“This isn’t just a job for me. It’s a mission that fills me with joy and humbles me all at the same time.”
I’m CEO at Scrum Alliance. I work closely with customers and stakeholders to understand the challenges and opportunities in the market landscape and translate that into a vision and strategy for our teams.
I never imagined that I would one day help lead Scrum Alliance, yet looking back every step I’ve taken in my career has led me here. I’ve been in the agile space for about 15 years. I began to learn about agile when I was working (ironically enough) at Scrum Alliance in the mid-2000s--and it completely changed the trajectory of my career. I next worked as an agile coach for Agile 42, and eventually moved into business development and leadership for BigVisible and Solutions IQ. These roles taught me all sides of the business, from what teams need, to the struggles facing hiring managers, to the paradigm shift needed throughout the business for agility to be sustainable. I’ve been a business owner myself for over 30 years, so I view the world through that lens as well. And now I’ve come full circle, back to Scrum Alliance.
I’m here because I believe in the mission of Scrum Alliance to help create a world of work that is joyful, prosperous, and sustainable. And I’m here because I believe in the Scrum Alliance certified trainers and coaches--our superpower in the world. Our trainers and coaches include some of the original agile thought leaders, people who literally wrote the books that new trainers and coaches referenced as they began their agile journeys. And I’m here because I’m inspired by our over one million community members, who do their part to further the agile movement in their own businesses every day. As a nonprofit trade association, our whole reason for being is to serve this community. I wake up every day dreaming of ways to make their work & workplaces better.
Part of my role now is to share this message--the future of the agile movement, the fire-igniting training offered by our Certified Scrum Trainers, the transformative power of coaching from a Certified Agile Coach, and the passion that flows throughout our community--with the world. You’ll find me speaking at conferences from South Africa to Brazil, from China to Finland.
And you’ll find me connecting with people, in the halls, at the coffee shop, online, wherever I find them. Because at the end of the day, strangers are only friends I haven’t met yet.
