Tandem Coaching CKA Quiz

Welcome to the Tandem Coaching CKA Quiz, that we designed to help you understand your knowledge of the coaching competencies. Take the quiz below, read about ICF CKA on the adjacent tab, and sign up for the ICF CKA Prep course run by Cherie Silas, MCC.

The International Coach Federation (ICF) is a 25 year-old and the largest and most influential coaching alliance in the world with more than 34 thousand members in 145 countries. ICF owns the most rigorous coaching and ethical standards that are admittedly the golden standard of the coaching these days.

To prepare for your ICF credential application you need to meet several requirements. The detailed list of those requirements and explanation how to meet them are posted in our blog post Your Journey to ICF Credentials. In short to pass the ICF review process, you must meet training from a recognized coach training program, coaching experience, and mentor coaching requirements.

A part of the ICF credential application for any path, be it ACTP, ACSTH, or Portfolio, is the Coach knowledge assessment, or CKA. The Coach Knowledge Assessment (CKA) is a tool that can be used to measure coaches’ understanding of the knowledge and skills important in the practice of coaching. The CKA tests coaches on their understanding of the body of knowledge that includes the ICF definition of coaching, Core Competencies and Code of Ethics.

CKA is an open book online exam, which means you can use whichever material, notes, books, you feel like will help you to ace the assessment. CKA consists of 155 randomly selected questions is timed to no more than 3 hours. The ICF asserts that majority of the applicants should have no problem answering all those questions in the allotted time. To earn a passing grade you should answer at least 70% or 109 questions correctly.

The questions in the CKA cover five broad domains,

1. Setting the Foundation

2. Co-Creating the Relationship

3. Communicating Effectively

4. Facilitating Learning and Results

5. Coaching Foundations and Knowledge Base

These multiple choice questions are often presented in a form of a case or scenario. You need to read the question carefully, and pay specific attention to its wording. Relate it to your experience and the ICF coaching body of knowledge.

In this quiz we collected sample questions that mirror the spirit of those you might run into during the ICF Coach Knowledge Assessment.

If you want to improve your knowledge of the CKA related topics and gain confidence we invite you to subscribe to our CKA Prep Mini-Course, run by Cherie Silas, the only Master Certified Coach with ICF who is also a Certified Enterprise and Team Coach with Scrum Alliance.
